The British Business Excellence Awards(BBEA) is a prestigious awards program designed to celebrate the achievements and innovation of businesses across the UK. The brand’s story is built around recognising and honouring companies that demonstrate exceptional performance, growth, and leadership in various industries. BBEA focuses on those sparks, highlighting the resilience, creativity and impact of businesses, whether they are small startups, growing enterprises, or established corporations. The awards aim to create a platform where businesses can showcase their achievements and gain recognition from peers, industry leaders, and the public. The awards are sponsored by Lloyds Bank, one of the UK’s leading financial institutions.
The Mission..
BBEA was looking to refresh and bring its current branding up-to-date with a new logo concept and design elements that would be more bold, flexible, and visually strong. Sarah didn’t want wholesale changes to the logo design but realised it needed updating to keep the awards more modern and dynamic. The core mission behind creating the new BBEA branding was to establish a modern, cohesive visual identity that reflects the Awards’ dedication to celebrating British business achievements. By integrating the outline of Great Britain, bold typography, iconography and a fresh green colour palette, the new design had to convey a sense of unity, growth, and excellence, values at the heart of BBEA. The new rebranding had to resonate with a wider audience, showcasing both the tradition and the forward-thinking spirit of British businesses in a single, recognisable brand.
Our Process..
The redesign process began with conceptual sketching to capture the essence of British business. The initial sketches combined typography with a stylised map of Great Britain, emphasising the connection between national pride and business success. The sketches aimed to establish a bold and confident design while maintaining a professional appearance. After conceptualising the idea, the design moved to a more refined and structured vector representation. Working along side Lloyds Bank design team on the colours the final logo was able to feature bold, sans-serif typography integrated with the map outline, symbolising the unity between British identity and business success. The inclusion of small star icons adds a sense of excellence, aspiration and constructive ideas for iconography.
